AI work is becoming an operated, packaged system rather than a model call
The strongest shift is from capable agents to the infrastructure that makes their work repeatable and reviewable. Harnesses, software factories, packaged skills, coding workbenches, control planes, and diagnostic evaluations all point toward agents being deployed as managed workflows, not improvised prompts. That makes integration and operating discipline more valuable—and gives builders who can expose bounded, inspectable tasks an advantage.
There is a counterweight: easier access and lower-cost execution do not erase concentration or risk. Open-model downloads remain dominated by a small share of repositories even as local serving footprints shrink; governance reporting, watermarking, and security protocols are becoming product boundaries. More routing and model choice may improve cost control, but it also makes provenance, policy, and failure diagnosis harder to ignore.
For builders and buyers, the practical consequence is to evaluate the whole operating path: how tools are scoped, outputs reviewed, traces diagnosed, and model choices governed—not just benchmark performance or headline price. Watch whether packaged skills and harnesses make agent work genuinely portable, or bind it to a vendor's workspace and control plane.
