Agent work is shifting from prompted sessions to persistent, permissioned systems
Several notes point to the same change: agents are becoming standing participants in workflows, not just tools people summon. Cursor’s event subscriptions, Copilot in team chat, and Vercel Agent’s incident context connect work signals to proposed changes; shared plugins and hosted MCP search make capabilities easier to reach across clients. That lowers integration friction, but raises the stakes of deciding what an agent can see and do.
The expansion is not a case for simply removing human boundaries. Enterprise-managed connector access, MCP’s focus on identity, and Vercel’s sandbox challenge all show that permissions and containment remain active design problems. Portable Computer makes escalation a user-controlled choice, while cyber-capable models put access control at the center of deployment. Builders gain reach and continuity; buyers inherit more consequential permission and isolation decisions.
Evaluation and trust are also becoming runtime concerns: confidential double-blind testing, integrity checks, and task-specific eval pipelines all resist treating a score or longer run as proof of reliability. Meanwhile, free, heavily cached usage can outrun provenance, and agent-generated contributions can overwhelm maintainer review. Teams should instrument permissions, isolation, and review capacity alongside agent performance, and avoid granting persistent access or trusting benchmark claims without evidence.

- Vercel opens a 1M dollar Sandbox escape challengeThe sandbox challenge underscores that a virtual machine alone may not contain an agent.
- Double-Blind Evals Move Benchmark Integrity into the RuntimeConfidential computing makes benchmark integrity a runtime property for both evaluators and model owners.
- Perplexity Portable Computer Makes Cloud Escalation a User-Controlled BoundaryUser-approved cloud escalation shows how orchestration can retain an explicit boundary around private work.

Agents
11
- Codex plugins and ChatGPT Apple Messages integration
One plugin directory now feeds both ChatGPT and Codex, bundling skills, connectors and MCP tools — and the Apple Messages plugin shows how far that reach extends into a user's own machine.
- Cursor cloud agents monitor PRs, Slack threads and scheduled tasks
Cursor's cloud agents now subscribe to PRs, Slack threads and schedules, waking on events and holding a goal — which moves the unit of work from a prompt to a standing subscription.
- Exa ships hosted MCP search across a dozen agent clients
Exa publishes one hosted MCP endpoint that drops its web search, code search and agent tools into Cursor, VS Code, Codex, Claude Code, Grok Build, OpenCode and more.
- Firecrawl Developer Index for coding agents
Firecrawl's Developer Index puts 70M+ docs, READMEs, issues and merged pull requests behind one query surface, indexing the bug threads where runtime symptoms are actually explained.
- GitHub Copilot moves into Slack and Microsoft Teams
GitHub's Slack integration now starts Copilot agent sessions that triage issues, fix failures in a cloud sandbox and open pull requests, with GitHub as a launch partner for Slack Code.
- Google Antigravity custom agents
Antigravity 2.0 adds first-class custom agents to the IDE and CLI, betting that specialised agents that act, verify and run in parallel beat one general-purpose assistant.
- OpenAI Zero Data Retention for frontier models
OpenAI previewed Private Safety Processing so abuse patterns can be detected across related interactions without staff reading customer content, keeping Zero Data Retention available.
- Ox Alpha tops OpenCode usage data
An unattributed model called ox-alpha took the top of OpenCode usage with 36T tokens at zero recorded spend, showing that free access plus a 94% cache ratio moves usage before provenance does.
- Vercel Agent comes to Slack
Vercel Agent now answers in Slack threads with deployment, log and metric context already loaded, turning an incident conversation directly into changes a human approves.
- A Skill Router Must Be Able to Say No
A practical routing contract for loading agent skills only when measured task evidence predicts a net benefit.
- The Minimum Integrity Stack for an Agent Leaderboard
A leaderboard needs isolation, path evidence, contamination checks, adversarial audits, and versioned corrections around every score.
Agent security
5
- Enterprise-managed auth narrows agent connector permissions
Claude Enterprise admins can now authorize MCP connectors once through an identity provider, so users inherit connector access from IdP groups instead of granting it themselves.
- The new MCP roadmap
The MCP maintainers published an updated roadmap whose groundwork has already shipped, putting stateless servers, pre-connection discovery and agent identity at the centre of protocol work.
- Vercel opens a 1M dollar Sandbox escape challenge
Vercel is paying up to $1M over two weeks to anyone who escapes its Sandbox, on the argument that a microVM without host-side network controls is only half an isolation boundary.
- Claude Mythos 5 comes to Claude Security
Anthropic moved Mythos-class cyber capability into Claude Security behind safety classifiers, turning a model's offensive potential into an access-control decision rather than a release note.
- VM Isolation Is Only One Boundary for Cyber-Capable Agents
A real assessment shows why agent containment must extend beyond a disposable virtual machine.
Agent evals
2
- Double-Blind Evals Move Benchmark Integrity into the Runtime
Google DeepMind's pilot uses confidential computing so evaluators keep prompts private while the model owner keeps proprietary weights private.
- An Anti-Cheat Prompt Is Not a Security Control
Benchmark integrity requires runtime enforcement even when explicit instructions reduce some reward-hacking behavior.

Current evidence supports longer bounded agent runs, but not reliable unattended work across weeks.
- Two ExtractBenches Measure Different Systems
Two similarly named document benchmarks use different datasets and metrics, so their scores do not form one leaderboard.
