Codex iOS Assistant bridges iMessage, Shortcuts, and a Mac agent

The open-source project lets Codex request bounded iPhone actions through authenticated messaging and native Shortcuts.

Retrieval answer

The open-source project lets Codex request bounded iPhone actions through authenticated messaging and native Shortcuts.

Field note

Codex iOS Assistant is an open-source bridge between Codex running on a Mac and native actions on an iPhone. Private commands travel through iMessage, iOS Shortcuts performs the action, and results return through an authenticated Cloudflare Tunnel. The agent can inspect the screen and work with selected device functions.

The repository defines important limits. Ordinary messages open as drafts instead of being sent automatically, while purchases, app installation, food ordering, and ride booking are prohibited. Setup requires macOS 14 or newer, Python 3.11, a Cloudflare domain, and manual Automation configuration in Shortcuts.

This is not official OpenAI software. It is useful as an example of capability design: a general coding agent reaches a personal device only through a narrow bridge with explicit denied actions and owner-required setup. Anyone testing it should inspect the code, isolate credentials, and begin with non-sensitive commands.
