Field note

Mintlify Index provides a shared search layer over documentation from more than 200,000 libraries, frameworks, and APIs. It exposes API and MCP access and returns structured context linked back to documentation publishers rather than an unbounded collection of general web snippets.

For Claude Code, Mintlify documents installation through npx mint@latest index --claude. The company reports a 43 percent search-speed improvement, but that is its own benchmark and does not establish answer quality or freshness across every indexed project.

The practical value is integration compression: a coding agent can use one retrieval interface instead of a custom connector per documentation site. That also creates a dependency on Mintlify's index coverage and update cadence, so critical claims should retain source URLs and fall back to the publisher's current documentation when versions diverge.
