OpenAI has introduced GPT-6.1 Terra, a model positioned for visual reasoning, computer use, writing

In one minute

OpenAI has introduced GPT-6.1 Terra, a model positioned for visual reasoning, computer use, writing, and software work.

What changed: Same event as OpenAI launched GPT-6.1 Terra , a mid-tier model with 50% lower API prices than GPT-5.6 Terra.

The company says it is available now in ChatGPT Work and Codex for Plus, Pro, Enterprise, and Edu users, and through the API as gpt-6.1-terra.

API list prices are $1 per million input tokens, $0.05 per million cached input tokens, and $5 per million output tokens. OpenAI says these standard prices are 50% below GPT-5.6 Terra and GPT-6.1 Sol. It also says users can complete more work within the same ChatGPT Work and Codex usage limits than with those models.

In OpenAI's reported evaluations, GPT-6.1 Terra scored 15 percentage points above GPT-5.6 Terra on Agents' Last Exam at medium reasoning effort and roughly one-third of the cost. On Terminal-Bench 4.0 at maximum reasoning effort, OpenAI reports 50.3%, versus a published 21.5% for GPT-5.6 Terra.

The source does not provide independent validation of these comparisons, a full account of rollout timing by region, or results on a particular customer's production workload.
