Gartner published its Top 10 Strategic Technology Trends for 2027 on October 20, 2026, following its IT Symposium/Xpo 2026 conference.

What changed: Gartner published its 2027 strategic technology trends, including AI agent identity, SovereignTech and wetware as a service.

The list includes large quantitative models, speech reasoning models, world models, AI context platforms, AI coding agent harnesses, AI agent identity, autonomous exposure remediation, SovereignTech, disposable applications, and wetware as a service.

The analyst firm groups the items under non-textual AI, governance of autonomous agent platforms, and durable agility. Its stated forecasts include large quantitative models replacing large language models in 25% of strategic forecasting and operational-modeling tasks by 2030; autonomous speech reasoning models handling more than 70% of enterprise voice interactions by 2030; and 25% of enterprise security breaches being linked to AI-agent abuse by 2028.

Gartner also says organizations that prioritize semantics in AI-ready data could improve agentic-AI accuracy by up to 80% and reduce costs by up to 60%. These are Gartner projections and claims, not reported deployment results, product releases, or independently verified measurements.
