The company says it decided around May 2026 to consolidate work previously spread across provider SDKs, managed-agent APIs, open-source coding agents, vendor tools, and earlier internal frameworks.
According to the post, the first Laminar version took six weeks to build. Five months later, Ramp says every one of its agentic products runs on the platform. Named workloads include Ask Ramp support chat, Contextual OCR in Ramp Bill Pay, the Ramp Inspect cloud coding agent, Ramp Stack for accounting, and Glass, a collaborative coworker.
Laminar is designed to be model- and provider-agnostic. Ramp lists Postgres, Temporal, and S3 as core components; it treats sandboxes as tools so session state does not depend on sandbox lifetime, uses disposable cloud workers, and defaults to non-blocking asynchronous agents.
The post does not announce public access to Laminar, an API, pricing, licensing, benchmark results, reliability figures, or a comparison with third-party managed-agent platforms. Source: https://engineering.ramp.com/post/building-laminar
