Vercel releases @ai-sdk/tool-web-fetch 1.0, a first-party web fetch tool for any tool-calling model in the AI SDK

In one minute

Vercel has released version 1.0.0 of `@ai-sdk/tool-web-fetch` in the `vercel/ai` repository.

What changed: Vercel released its own @ai-sdk/tool-web-fetch 1.0, distinct from the earlier Browserbase Search and Fetch tools offered through AI Gateway.

The GitHub release is titled @ai-sdk/tool-web-fetch@1.0.0, was published on October 23, and records 14 commits to main since the release.

The release notes list one major change: “feat(tool-web-fetch): add the first-party web fetch tool.” The package is therefore being released from the AI SDK repository as a first-party component, rather than being identified in this release entry as a third-party integration.

The published release record does not document the tool API, supported content types, request limits, authentication model, pricing, browser or JavaScript behavior, compatibility requirements, or operational guarantees. It also does not establish whether the package replaces existing web-fetch integrations, what models can use it, or how it behaves in production beyond the fact of the 1.0.0 release.
