In one minute

OpenAI has acquired Orchestra Bio, a four-year-old AI biotech software startup, TechCrunch reported on October 20, 2026.

What changed: Same event as OpenAI has acquired Orchestra Bio, a startup that builds AI agents for coordinating drug-development work.

The companies did not disclose the terms of the transaction.

Orchestra Bio builds AI agents for drug-discovery operations at biotech companies. TechCrunch describes uses including financial tracking and resolving clinical-trial scheduling issues. The startup had reportedly raised about $20 million by 2025 from Andreessen Horowitz, Atria, and 8VC.

OpenAI said it is bringing Orchestra Bio’s team and technology into Rosalind, its life-sciences research model, and Rosalind Workbench, a tool for planning experiments and analyzing results. OpenAI has named Moderna and Novo Nordisk as Rosalind customers.

The report does not establish the acquisition price, the size of the team joining OpenAI, an integration timetable, or whether Orchestra Bio’s existing product will remain available to its former customers.
