Shopify moves its AI-agent Knowledge base into the admin under Sales channels > Agentic

In one minute

Shopify has added its Knowledge base to the Shopify admin at Sales channels > Agentic > Knowledge base.

What changed: Shopify has moved its AI-agent Knowledge base into the admin, replacing the standalone app and setting a January 15, 2027 shutdown date; drafted facts stay unpublished until merchants publish them.

The new location replaces Shopify’s standalone Knowledge Base app, which Shopify says will no longer be available after January 15, 2027.

The page lets merchants review, edit, and publish facts that AI agents can receive about a store, including contact details and gift services. Shopify drafts those facts from published storefront pages and links each draft to its source page. Drafted facts are not sent to AI agents unless the merchant publishes them.

For stores that used the previous app and had fewer than 1,000 facts, written or edited facts were moved into the new page and published automatically; merchants can unpublish them. Stores with more than 1,000 facts did not have their facts migrated and must add the facts they want to retain before the app’s retirement. New users receive storefront-derived drafts that remain unpublished.

The changelog does not identify which external AI agents consume these facts, specify geographic or plan availability, or describe how Shopify verifies the accuracy of storefront-derived drafts.
