Nous Research's Hermes Agent: MIT-licensed, self-hosted open-source agent, now at v0.22.5

In one minute

Nous Research released Hermes Agent v0.22.5 on October 22, 2026.

What changed: The known Hermes Agent licensing and self-hosting story now has a v0.22.5 release.

The GitHub release is described as a patch release that rolls changes since v0.22.4 into stable distribution channels: the CLI and installers, Microsoft Store app, Docker, and Hermes Cloud.

The release window contains 231 non-merge commits across 804 changed files, 81 merged pull requests, and 30 closed issues. The notes list a reworked Nous sign-in flow, usage-window plan support with plan gauges and limit cards, pluggable delegation backends for routing subagents by model map or profile, plugin slash commands, hermes import-agent, and OpenClaw migration. hermes mcp serve has moved from core into plugins.

CLI users can update with hermes update or rerun the installer one-liner. Docker and Hermes Cloud users are directed to nousresearch/hermes-agent:stable or :latest; Microsoft Store updates arrive through the Store. Installer-based desktop builds do not change in this release. The source says complete curated notes covering v0.22.0 onward will ship with v0.23.0, so it does not establish detailed migration guidance or behavior for every listed change.
