The trial ran a Voice over New Radio call, mobile-data connectivity, and video analytics simultaneously on one AI-RAN platform over Elisa’s 5G Advanced network.
According to Elisa, the trial used Nokia’s AI-RAN solution and NVIDIA Aerial RAN Computer with an NVIDIA RTX PRO 4500 Blackwell Server Edition GPU. Elisa said the demonstration included AI-in-RAN algorithms and AI-on-RAN edge video analytics workloads.
The Finnish operator is also deploying Dell PowerEdge servers with NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs at multiple network locations in Finland. Elisa says the capacity is intended for current inference workloads and future AI-RAN deployments, and that it plans to validate AI-RAN with Nokia and NVIDIA in a live commercial network in 2027.
The announcement does not give the number of deployed servers or sites, performance measurements, customer availability, pricing, or a commercial launch date. Its claims about being first in Europe and the expected benefits are Elisa’s own statements.
