Kitesurf is Cloudflare's experimental browser engine for agents, implemented in Rust and WebAssembly and designed to run inside V8 isolates on Workers. It exposes a Chrome DevTools Protocol-compatible interface, so existing Puppeteer, Playwright, and MCP integrations can target it without treating a full Chromium process as the only browser runtime.
Cloudflare's own tests show the trade-off clearly. Warm Kitesurf runs used roughly 3.1–3.8 times less CPU and 4.7–7 times less memory than Chromium on the tested workflows, while taking about 1.7–1.8 times longer to finish. Those are vendor measurements, not a general browser benchmark.
The architecture is aimed at large numbers of short, isolated sessions where memory density and startup boundaries matter more than maximum page speed. Kitesurf is available as a free beta in Browser Run through the browser=kitesurf option. It should be evaluated as a lighter execution substrate, not as a universal Chromium replacement.
