The release adds session notices and context compaction for external agents using ACP, and adds GPT-6 Astra, Claude Fable 5.1, and Claude Opus 5.5 to its Amazon Bedrock provider.
The editor's binaries are about 33% smaller on macOS, 28% smaller on Windows, and 7% smaller on Linux, according to the release notes. Zed also changed SSH remote connection detection to use one command rather than three, and added inlay-hint edit acceptance by double-clicking or through an editor command.
Among the fixes, Zed says environment variables, including secrets, passed to external agents and MCP servers in remote projects were visible in the local machine process list; version 1.25.2 fixes that issue. It also fixes external-agent prompts that could be slow to send or fail to send because of unnecessary Git checkpoints.
The release notes do not provide benchmarks for startup, SSH, agent performance, or context savings. They also do not specify which Bedrock accounts, regions, or model-access settings are required for the newly listed models.
