Zed has released stable version 1.25.2. Its release notes say the application binary was reduced by about 33% on macOS, 28% on Windows, and 7% on Linux.

The release enables session notices and context compaction for external agents using ACP. It also adds GPT-6 Astra, Claude Fable 5.1, and Claude Opus 5.5 to Zed's Amazon Bedrock provider. Other changes include double-click application of inlay-hint text edits and an SSH remote-connection change that detects the remote shell, platform, and OS version in one command rather than three.

Zed also fixed a bug in remote projects where environment variables, including secrets, passed to external agents and MCP servers could appear in the local machine's process list. The release notes do not establish the severity, exploitability, or user impact of that bug, nor do they quantify changes to download time, startup time, or memory use from the smaller binaries.
