The statement accompanied a 26 October visit by members of the European Parliament’s Employment Committee to Amazon sites in Dortmund and Moenchengladbach. The delegation is due to meet Amazon workers, works councils and ver.di representatives about cameras and algorithmic management in warehouses.
ver.di said the visit’s findings will feed into the ongoing EU “Quality Jobs Act” legislative process, which it described as covering algorithmic management and occupational health. The union again called for Amazon to recognize the retail and mail-order collective agreement and conclude an agreement on healthy work.
The source is a ver.di press release. It does not establish that Amazon has accepted these demands, that the Parliament will adopt a particular measure, or what the inspection will find.
