If Claude Code is already partway through a response, it may continue briefly to finish the step in progress and display “Usage limit reached · wrapping up.”
The allowance is small and capped, counts against the weekly limit, and cannot be used to start a new message after the session limit. Pro subscribers can receive it up to once per weekly usage period. Max subscribers can receive it each time they reach a five-hour limit, subject to their weekly limit. Anthropic says rollout is gradual.
Five-hour and weekly limits remain shared across Claude web, desktop, mobile, terminal Claude Code, and supported IDE integrations. The source does not state the size of the allowance, a rollout date, or which accounts have received it. It also notes that an ANTHROPIC_API_KEY makes Claude Code use API authentication and standard API charges rather than subscription usage.
