The company says it can provide product details, shipping information, sizing and availability, and retain a user's preferences and needs during a conversation.
TikTok also introduced Buy Direct, an in-app checkout feature that lets a user purchase from a brand in one click from the For You feed. The changes put shopping questions and payment inside TikTok's main algorithmic video feed rather than only in TikTok Shop, the company's marketplace.
The company says the features are being built with commerce and payment partners including Salesforce, Shopify, Shoplazza and Stripe. TechCrunch reports that TikTok Shop launched in the United States in September 2023 and that eMarketer estimated $15.8 billion in US TikTok Shop sales for 2025.
The report does not establish which countries, users, or brands receive the new features, their fees or eligibility rules, or any measured effect on checkout conversion, merchant economics, or user behavior.
