Pioneers Across Europe Deploy NVIDIA Earth-2 Open Models to Power Real-World Weather and Climate Prediction

In one minute

NVIDIA published a report on European use of its Earth-2 open weather and climate models on October 21, 2026.

What changed: Adds a separate Earth-2 weather deployment announcement, including StormScope EU’s European satellite forecasts at 10-minute intervals and named organizational uses; the prior NVIDIA Europe open-model announcement covered other model families.

The company said StormScope EU is the latest addition: a regional short-term forecasting model trained on European weather and climate data. It uses EUMETSAT observations across 16 Meteosat channels to predict changing cloud conditions at 10-minute intervals.

At GTC Berlin, NVIDIA is showing a live StormScope EU pipeline with Earthmover. Earth2Studio runs forecasts, while Earthmover manages and serves results as map tiles; NVIDIA says the results update when new satellite observations arrive, every 10 minutes. The company also points to PhysicsNeMo as the open-source framework for training and customization.

The report names deployments and evaluations by AXA, Vaisala Xweather, the University of Manchester, TotalEnergies and Space42. AXA is using FourCastNet 3 across more than 1,000 simulated cyclone seasons, while TotalEnergies is evaluating solar-radiation nowcasts at two photovoltaic sites. NVIDIA does not provide comparative accuracy results, production-performance data, pricing, or independently verified operational outcomes for these uses.
