OpenAI halves Pro 200 usage and launches a $500 ChatGPT plan at DevDay

In one minute

OpenAI has introduced a ChatGPT Pro 500 subscription priced at $500 per month, according to The Next Web's DevDay 2026 report.

What changed: The rumored $500 Pro Max plan is now launched, and OpenAI confirmed the $200 Pro tier will have half its current Work and Codex usage from October 30.

The plan is the only Pro tier with the Ultrafast speed level. OpenAI says Ultrafast can generate up to 300 tokens per second in Codex, up to eight times the standard speed.

The existing $200-per-month Pro 200 plan is again open to new subscribers, but its included ChatGPT Work and Codex usage will fall on October 30 from 20 times to 10 times the Plus allowance. Its weekly GPT-6 Pro chat-message limit will drop from 200 to 100. Existing subscribers retain current limits until October 29 and receive a one-time $2,500 usage-credit grant that expires at year-end. OpenAI also said it will not restore Pro 200's five-hour limit.

The report also describes team workspaces, a meeting-notes plugin, @ChatGPT for Slack and Microsoft Teams, and cloud execution for Codex tasks. It does not establish how the revised plan limits translate into API spending or effective capacity for an individual workload.
