What changed: Ollama v0.40.9 expands Flint support to Linux and Windows, beyond the prior coverage of running Ollama locally through the Lumi launcher.

Ollama released v0.40.9 on October 22. The release expands Flint from macOS to Linux and Windows. The notes state that Flint now runs on all three desktop operating-system families, removing the macOS-only limitation described for the preceding release.

The patch also changes error handling for streamed OpenAI Responses and Anthropic Messages requests. Generation failures are now reported rather than leaving a request silently terminated after partial output. In addition, ollama launch now passes cloud models’ context lengths and capabilities to coding tools.

Ollama says the latter change fixes incorrect context and compaction settings in those tools. The release notes do not specify supported Linux distributions or Windows versions, Flint system requirements, affected coding tools, or whether the changes alter model availability, pricing, or performance.
