Mistral makes its fourth acquisition in eight months

In one minute

Mistral AI has acquired New Material, a British design studio focused on AI-oriented product creation, according to Maddyness.

What changed: Same event as New Material joins Mistral to design the frontier

The acquired team will form a new Mistral unit called Solutions Design.

Maddyness says the group will bring designers, engineers and AI specialists together for deployments with large enterprise customers. New Material previously worked with Ford, Rafael Nadal, the Wellcome Trust and several major US law firms. The report describes its work as bespoke tools and interfaces that embed AI in product experiences.

The purchase is Mistral’s fourth acquisition in 2026, following Koyeb in cloud computing, Emmi AI in industrial AI, and Pimento in advertising. Maddyness reports that Mistral recently raised EUR3 billion at a EUR21 billion valuation, with Samsung leading the round and ASML and Nvidia participating.

The source does not disclose the acquisition price, transaction structure, headcount moving to Mistral, closing date, or a delivery timetable for Solutions Design projects.
