Both options are available in VS Code, the GitHub Copilot app, and GitHub Copilot CLI.
HydraFusion orchestrates multiple models into one response. Its revised pool includes Claude Opus 5.5, GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol, and GPT-6 Luna. The system now assigns reasoning effort by stage: medium for initial drafts and high for review. Its Cascade workflow can add a judging step that requests repair only when needed; Critique uses tools to inspect the workspace more directly and runs parallel critic models.
HydraFusion Max uses the same architecture and workflows, but GitHub says it is tuned for frontier capability on more demanding tasks. HydraFusion is positioned as a balanced option with moderate token savings, while Max emphasizes deeper reasoning and thorough analysis. Both remain research previews.
The options are available to Copilot Pro, Pro+, Business, and Enterprise customers with experimental or preview features enabled, subject to organization model policies. The changelog does not establish comparative benchmark results, pricing, consumption limits, or which model will be selected for a particular task.
