Cursor released the Agent SDK for defining bots as Markdown prompts and TypeScript tools in your repo.

In one minute

Cursor has published documentation for Agent SDK, a framework for defining, testing, evaluating and deploying agents as code.

What changed: Cursor's Agent SDK is a distinct release for defining and deploying agents as Markdown and TypeScript code, separate from the previously documented TypeScript SDK.

An agent is a versioned project of Markdown or TypeScript instructions, deterministic code hooks, tools, skills and evaluations; Cursor runs the model loop and tool calls.

The documented setup requires Node.js 22.13 or newer and installs @grok/agent-sdk globally. The package was previously named @cursor/bdk. The CLI includes agent-sdk init, agent-sdk dev, agent-sdk validate, and a command to run a turn. Cursor lists integrations with Slack, pull requests, issue trackers and Cursor itself.

The SDK uses the Cursor harness behind Bugbot, Security Review, Approval Bot and Rollouts. Documentation describes both Cursor-managed and self-hosted deployment options, plus MCP connections, sessions, subagents, secret management and sandboxing. It does not establish pricing, plan availability, supported model guarantees, or a release date. Source: https://cursor.com/docs/agent-sdk
