Canva MCP is now generally available to developers

In one minute

Canva has made its Canva MCP server generally available to developers building AI assistants, platforms, and connectors.

What changed: Canva MCP is now generally available for developers, with self-serve setup via the Developer Portal OAuth client and no waitlist; the prior Canva automation story concerned n8n's official node.

Developers using a Developer Portal OAuth client can create an app, enable Canva MCP, and connect without applying through the waitlist.

The remote server is available at https://api.canva.com/connect/v1/mcp over Streamable HTTP. Its tools cover creating designs and images, searching designs, folders, and pages, editing designs, adding comments, managing assets, and exporting work as PDF, PNG, JPG, PPTX, or MP4.

Each end user authenticates with their own Canva account, and tool access follows that user's Canva permissions. Canva says organization-level and service-account authentication are not supported. A client using a Client ID Metadata Document rather than a client secret must still apply through the waitlist to register its redirect URI.

The announcement says some capabilities require a paid Canva plan, but it does not specify prices, plan thresholds, rate limits, or the complete stable tool set. It also advises clients to discover tools dynamically and poll long-running generation jobs according to the returned policy.
