The option lets a workspace run Amp Orbs on infrastructure operated by the customer rather than on Amp-hosted compute.
Customers run amp orb provider inside their infrastructure. The provider makes an outbound HTTPS connection to Amp, waits for spawn, pause, and delete requests, and sends those operations to a customer-supplied dispatch program. Amp published implementation examples for Docker, E2B, Modal, Vercel Sandbox, Daytona, exe.dev, and Apple Containers, plus a Helm chart for GKE, EKS, and AKS.
Amp says self-hosted Orbs are free for individuals and teams. Every workspace can use them free until October 29, 2026; after that date, Enterprise workspaces pay standard Orb pricing. Amp positions the option for organizations constrained by data-residency requirements, internal networks, or custom hardware.
The announcement does not state the post-trial Enterprise price, compare performance across the listed back ends, or establish security and isolation properties for any particular customer deployment.
