Firecrawl now charges only when a scrape returns a page, and Enhanced mode costs nothing extra. The "8x cheaper" agent claim can't be checke

Firecrawl's September 2026 price cut is real on three of its four points: unsuccessful scrapes are free, the Research Index is free, and Enhanced mode costs nothing extra. The fourth, an /agent price "8x cheaper," depends on a pricing model the company has never published, so builders should measure it from their own credit logs.

Coding agents finish long tasks when someone else decides when they're done

Factory reports that splitting coding agents into an implementer and an independent validator lifted rebuilds of hard ProgramBench programs. GDAL went from 36% to 90% test parity, at about 13 times the wall-clock time. The "Factory Benchmarks" item in this cluster is a different product from a different company: Warp's custom eval tool.

OpenAI's APA youth work is planned guidance, not a product safety seal

On 6 August 2026 OpenAI published a full post saying it will work with the American Psychological Association on family and clinician resources that may later inform youth safeguards. The post names no timeline, no dated deliverables, and no committed ChatGPT policy change from the partnership itself.

Anthropic's Model Hardware Standard tries to do for lab equipment what MCP did for software tools, but it is still a gated preview with no p

MHS is a model-agnostic driver layer that agents reach through MCP, a CLI or code, and that enforces each device's safety limits below the model. The partner list is long and QuEra's results are strong, but nearly all the evidence comes from Anthropic and its partners, and nobody outside the program can read or implement the spec yet.

Rerank 5 costs about a tenth of a cent per query, and our bet is that Cohere earns its margin in Vault, not the API

Rerank 5 lists at $0.02 to $0.05 per million tokens. Cohere sells it through the per-token API and through dedicated Model Vault deployments, and NVIDIA says Cohere plans to add a confidential bare-metal option to Vault. We think the money is in the dedicated tier. That is our hypothesis, not anything Cohere has said, and there is a simpler explanation that fits the evidence just as well.

Claude Duet is aimed at small-business admin, and its one-model, shared-quota, approval-gated design matters more than its shopping demo

The Stripe Link checkout is the eye-catching part. The more telling choices are elsewhere: one fixed model, background work billed against existing chat limits, and hard approval gates on bookkeeping, contract and invoicing tools. The link to Anthropic's distillation crackdown is our speculation, not something Anthropic has said.
