OCP Summit 2026: Powering AI with Open Innovations in Scale-Up, Scale-Out, and Scale-Across Networks

In one minute

Meta announced a set of open networking infrastructure efforts at the 2026 Open Compute Project Global Summit, including IcePack liquid-cooled network racks, the IceCube 102.4-Tbps switch platform, Flattened Planar Fabric (FPF), open-source implementations of MetaRoCE, and the Open Switch Platform

Architecture (OSPA) initiative.

Meta says IceCube provides 128×800G non-blocking switching capacity and runs its FBOSS network operating system. FPF connects each GPU through eight independent 100G links to eight network planes; Meta says the design removes a switching tier relative to its prior fabric and supports larger clusters with lower latency. OSPA, co-led by Meta, Microsoft, and Alibaba, has submitted specification v1.0 to OCP. The announcement describes infrastructure intended for large AI training clusters; it does not establish independent performance results or broad deployment beyond Meta’s stated work.
