MVUEH — An Enigma message recovered

In one minute

A published interactive case study documents the recovery of MVUEH, an 82-letter German Army Enigma message from 1941.

The project says its recovered Enigma settings explain both the full reconstructed body and the independently recorded header, GTA / KCI. It presents the resulting German output, a tentative reading of the signature, and a replayable simulator.

The work is also a source-critical exercise: a published received transcription and a faint outgoing facsimile disagree at some positions. The investigators used the repeated name ROSENOWROSENOW as a proposed crib, then tested candidate settings against the remaining letters and the header. The project explicitly distinguishes computed machine output from editorial restoration of spelling and punctuation.

The source frames this as a modern reconstruction of one surviving dispatch, not a claim to have originally broken Enigma or achieved a corpus-wide breakthrough. Source: https://mvueh-enigma-solved.carterl.chatgpt.site/
