Anthropic says Claude Opus 5.5 is designed and priced for longer, context-heavy coding sessions.

The company reports a 20% reduction in input and output token prices, a 60% reduction in cached-token read prices, and an estimated 40% lower cost than Opus 5 for typical token-billed workloads. It also says Claude Code cache misses fell by more than half, while API and cloud users can set a one-hour cache lifetime and forked subagents inherit a parent cache.
