The order keeps the same technologies within scope under the existing federal definition of AI. It gives the president’s science and technology adviser 60 days to propose legislation establishing a federal definition of “Super Intelligence,” including possible changes to existing statutory references. Previously issued regulations, contracts, grants, and historical documents do not need to be rewritten. The announcement was made alongside technology executives, including Elon Musk and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei.
