Cloudflare says early benchmarks show tsrs up to 8x faster and using about 70% less memory than TypeScript 7.0 when both use the same number of type-checking workers. The post also notes that TypeScript 7.1 beta is already up to 2.5x faster than 7.0, and that some optimizations from tsrs have been upstreamed. The project is not presented as a TypeScript fork: the TypeScript team retains control of language design and direction, while tsrs must track its implementation decisions to remain compatible. These are early benchmark claims, not a guarantee of equivalent gains across projects or configurations.
