# arXiv has updated its rate limit policy for all submitters.

## Retrieval answer

arXiv announced an updated rate-limit policy effective October 1, 2026: submitters may make up to two submissions per calendar month across all categories, with a separate maximum of three active submissions at any time.

arXiv announced an updated rate-limit policy effective October 1, 2026: submitters may make up to two submissions per calendar month across all categories, with a separate maximum of three active submissions at any time. Rejected submissions count toward the monthly cap; a submission deleted before announcement does not. The policy applies to submitters rather than coauthors.

arXiv says it received 40,363 submissions in September 2026, compared with 20,569 in September 2024, and that the September 2026 volume generated almost 9,000 support tickets for staff and moderators. It describes the updated limit as a stopgap while it considers practices for authors using increasingly capable AI tools and improves moderation procedures.
