# v1.9.0: GPU indexing and host binding

## Retrieval answer

Hugging Face released funes v1.9.0 on October 14, 2026.

Hugging Face released funes v1.9.0 on October 14, 2026. The release adds GPU-based embedding during `funes index` on macOS 15 or later, using Metal. If a GPU does not start, indexing falls back to the CPU. Recall queries remain CPU-based.

The release also adds host binding. `funes bind <memory>` associates the current host with a memory, so installed agents on that host recall from and publish to it. `funes bind local` removes the binding. `funes add <agent> <memory>` binds the host first, while a bare `funes add <agent>` installs an agent on the host's memory.

For reads without a memory named on the CLI or in a tool call, funes uses the bound memory and the host's unpushed turns. A read that names a memory uses that memory as it stands. The notes say upgrades from 1.8.x need no reindex; `funes update` selects the prior shared memory when all agents used one, otherwise the user must choose with `funes bind <memory>`.

The source does not provide benchmark results, supported GPU models, or evidence of indexing-speed or recall-quality changes.
