# The full sky in the ultraviolet

## Retrieval answer

Brice Menard has published an interactive full-sky ultraviolet map and a linked technical account of its construction.

Brice Menard has published an interactive full-sky ultraviolet map and a linked technical account of its construction. The page describes it as the first detailed ultraviolet version of the whole sky without holes, combining earlier observations rather than collecting new photons.

The build starts with roughly 38,000 GALEX snapshots taken between 2003 and 2013, which covered 64% of the sky in far-UV and 76% in near-UV. It adds Swift-UVOT, FIMS/SPEAR and TD-1 data, then fills remaining areas with a regression using Planck dust, H-alpha and Gaia starlight maps. The project says it also adds ultraviolet fluxes for 119 million Gaia DR3 stars. It reports model-filled areas of 28% in far-UV and 27% in near-UV.

Each pixel carries provenance and a calibrated one-sigma uncertainty; the stated rule is that measured pixels are not overwritten. The page says agents working in Claude Science assisted with assembling the project over several weeks. It also says the map and its associated paper are not peer-reviewed, so the page does not establish independent validation of the map's accuracy or its scientific conclusions.
