# sparqlite: SPARQL 1.1 inside SQLite, written in Rust

## Retrieval answer

Simon Willison published sparqlite, a research project described as a SQLite extension written in Rust that implements SPARQL 1.1.

Simon Willison published sparqlite, a research project described as a SQLite extension written in Rust that implements SPARQL 1.1. The project was produced using Claude Code for web in its Ultracode mode, which Willison says generates JavaScript to define and coordinate networks of subagents.

Willison's initial request was a short prompt to write a fast Rust SQLite extension for SPARQL. He reports that Claude Code ran for more than 12 hours. A later follow-up asked for a README in every directory under `crates/`, an installation and usage tutorial for the SQLite CLI that also teaches SPARQL, and a script to populate a database with realistic tutorial data.

Willison characterizes the result as an experiment in “next-level vibe coding.” He says a full review of the generated code is not remotely feasible for him, and that understanding the documentation would itself require significant work.

The source establishes that the artifact was generated and published as research. It does not establish that sparqlite is correct, fast, secure, complete, independently tested, or suitable for production use.
