The local endpoint accepts the same request shape as Perplexity's hosted Decisions API. Developers send content as state plus a named question and receive probabilities and confidence. The app supports text and images, and documentation describes yes/no, choice, and score question types. Perplexity says moving an application to the hosted API requires changing the URL and adding an authorization header; the hosted service can use the larger `pplx-decider-v1.2` model.

Decider for Mac requires an Apple Silicon Mac, macOS 13 or later, 16 GB of memory, and about 6 GB of free disk space. The approximately 5.8 GB model downloads on first launch. Perplexity says local use needs no API key or usage billing, although downloading requires network access and the setup may request a read-access Hugging Face token.

The documentation says content is read on the Mac, but it does not establish model accuracy, latency, security properties beyond that description, or equivalence between locally tuned thresholds and hosted results.
