# Affected Manus users need to back up data before the separation

Manus is returning to independent operations, with a time-bounded backup and restoration process for affected accounts.

Manus says it will return to operating as an independent company. During that transition, data generated by certain affected users on or after December 29, 2025 will be deleted from 8:00 a.m. on August 23 through August 24, 2026 in Singapore time to meet regulatory requirements in specific jurisdictions.

Affected users can create backups until 7:59 a.m. SGT on August 23 and restore them beginning at 8:00 a.m. SGT on August 25. Manus says it will notify affected accounts in the app and by email; users who registered with Apple ID or Facebook should rely on the in-app notice.

The practical action is simple: if the account is marked affected, export now and repeat the backup after any new work. The broader systems lesson is that agent outputs need an owner-controlled export path before corporate or jurisdictional boundaries change, not after access is interrupted.
