Anthropic has published a help article describing Claude Duet, a research preview of a background agent that works in a cloud computer. Users can message it by text or voice; it can use Claude memory, skills, connected apps, and a separate browser for sites without a connector.

Access is currently limited to a waitlist for Claude Pro and Max subscribers in the United States. Team and Enterprise plans are not supported. Duet is included at no extra charge during the preview, but its background work counts against the same five-hour session and weekly usage limits as Claude chats. Anthropic says it runs on Claude Opus 5.5, with no user model selection.

The article lists connected services including Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Slack, QuickBooks, HubSpot, Docusign, and Calendly. A Stripe connector can check unpaid invoices and draft reminder emails for approval. Link can pay for purchases a user approves, using a one-time card per purchase; Shop Pay is also listed. Anthropic says Duet asks before sending messages, making payments, signing documents, or deleting items.

The source does not establish a general release date, post-preview pricing, international availability, or a broad shopping rollout. It also says users cannot watch or take over its browser, and some actions remain prohibited even with approval.
