Colossal reports that GenoMorph identified roughly 2,300 candidate regulatory elements linked to beak traits: 653 for size and 1,698 for thickness or breadth. It also says a dodo genome assembly now has 95% of bases covered at least fivefold.

The announcement further describes a 36-bird Nicobar pigeon colony, derived primordial germ cells, chicken embryonic-stem-cell chimeras, and lipid nanoparticles for editing bird embryos. It does not establish that edits produce a dodo, that the candidates work in vivo, a timetable, independent replication, public access to GenoMorph, or commercial terms.
