Business Insider reports that Micro1 is licensing companies' internal workplace data for AI model development. The startup says it pays $100,000 to $2 million for a single midsize company's data and plans to spend $1 billion on the program over the next year.

VanHack CEO Ilya Brotzky told the publication that his company licensed Google Workspace, Confluence, Slack, and CRM data to Micro1 after reviewing its privacy process. MyPortal Marketing CEO Grant Gooley said his agency sold internal Figma and Canva design files and Monday.com checklists. Brotzky said VanHack also received an offer from Mercor.

Micro1 chief revenue officer William Almeida described three uses: transforming raw company data before licensing it to a lab, collecting company feedback on an in-progress agent, and creating timestamp-frozen simulation environments for model developers. Micro1 says it generally seeks a company's full data corpus.

The report does not disclose contract terms, the identities of model-developer buyers, exact payments in the cited deals, or the technical details of privacy transformation. It also does not establish whether individual current or former employees consented to the licensing of their work data or received compensation.
